Websites for trades · Belleville & the Bay of Quinte

Belleville has had municipal water since 1886 and a web design market served almost entirely from out of town.

The agencies ranking for “Belleville web design” are mostly not in Belleville. Their testimonials are from Waterloo and Oakville. That is not a knock on their work — it’s an opening.

We’re posted to CFB Trenton in six weeks. Who can quote a furnace replacement remotely?

[your business] comes up in listings, but there’s no site telling me whether they quote remotely, what brands they carry, or how far into Quinte West they go. Here are three I can answer for:

First result4.7 ★ · remote quoting explained
Second result4.6 ★ · service area mapped
Third result4.5 ★ · financing on the page

01 — The situation in Belleville

A regional hub with a military town attached to it.

Belleville had 55,071 residents at the 2021 Census; the census metropolitan area, which takes in Quinte West, reaches 111,184. It is the seat of Hastings County and the commercial centre for a wide rural catchment. Procter & Gamble, Kellogg’s and Avaya anchor the industrial base.

Fifteen minutes west, Quinte West had 46,560 residents across 495 square kilometres — 94 people per square kilometre, which is to say mostly rural. Its largest employer is CFB Trenton, the largest RCAF air base in Canada. Military posting cycles create something no other market on this list has: a steady, predictable churn of households arriving and leaving on a schedule, most of them buying or renting sight-unseen and needing inspections, repairs and upgrades on a deadline.

Belleville has been on municipal water since 1886 and its 1873 City Hall anchors a Victorian downtown. Rural Hastings and rural Quinte West are a different market — wells and septic, like everywhere else outside the serviced cores. If you work in both, you need pages for both.

What makes this area different

The military churn is the thing to build for. A household posted to Trenton is researching contractors from Cold Lake or Greenwood, weeks in advance, entirely online, with no local network to ask. That customer is won or lost on what is written down — which is exactly the customer an AI assistant is best at serving, and worst at serving when your site says nothing.

02 — Who this is for

Trades with real search demand in Quinte.

A serviced city core, a rural county around it, and a military base cycling households through on posting season. Each of those is a different set of searches.

02

04

05

06

One business per trade, per area. Two furnace companies covering the same postings can’t both come first in the same search. I’m not going to pretend otherwise. When your trade in Belleville is taken, it’s taken — and I’ll tell you that rather than take the money.

03 — Why it matters now

Half your customers are researching you from another province.

That is not an exaggeration in this market. Posting cycles mean a meaningful share of Quinte’s residential trade demand comes from people who are not here yet, cannot visit, and have nobody local to ask.

Those people ask an assistant, and the assistant answers with whichever business has enough written down to be answered about. Do you quote remotely? Which brands do you carry? How far into Quinte West do you go? Can you do the work before we arrive?

None of that is exotic marketing. It’s just writing down what you already tell people on the phone, and putting it somewhere a machine can read it.

  • AI Overviews now appear on roughly 68% of local searches — so for most of the searches that matter to you, an assistant answers before anyone scrolls.
  • Ranking and being cited are different jobs. Ziptie’s analysis found 88% of Google AI Mode citations come from pages outside the organic top ten, and only 12% of AI-cited URLs also rank in Google’s top ten.
  • In a controlled test, AI assistants pulled facts from visible page text, not structured data — Claude extracted 0% from JSON-LD, Perplexity 12.5%, Google AI Mode 25%. If your price isn’t written on the page in words, it may as well not exist.
  • The peer-reviewed research (Aggarwal et al., ACM SIGKDD 2024) measured relative visibility gains of +40.9% for adding quotations, +30.6% for adding statistics and +27.5% for citing sources — a 30–40% band, in the paper’s own words. Keyword stuffing came in 8.3% below doing nothing at all.
  • About 45% of consumers now use an AI tool for local recommendations, and 82% read the AI-written review summary rather than the reviews.

04 — What you actually get

Built for how people in Belleville actually search.

Pages for Belleville, Quinte West, Trenton and each rural township you serve, each saying something true and specific about working there rather than the same paragraph with the name swapped.

A remote-quoting page, if that’s something you can do. It is a genuine differentiator in a posting-cycle market and I have not seen a Quinte trade business with one.

Prices, or at least a starting figure. Published Ontario benchmarks for 2026 put a basic small-business site around $1,500 and a standard build at $3,500–$5,000; nobody publishes what a furnace swap costs either, and it’s the first thing every customer wants to know.

  • A page for each town and township you serve
  • Structured data plus the same facts in plain visible text
  • Google Business Profile set up, categorised properly, and kept current
  • Automatic review requests, because review recency now matters more than review count
  • Tap-to-call on every screen
  • Monthly reporting in sentences

Buyout

You can buy the site outright at any time. It starts at $3,000 and drops $100 every month you’ve been with me, to a floor of $500. Leave whenever you like and take the site with you — I’d rather you stayed because it works.

06 — Questions people actually ask

Belleville trades, answered plainly.

Are the agencies ranking for Belleville actually in Belleville?+

Several are not. One of the strongest Belleville location pages I found belongs to a firm whose testimonials reference Waterloo and Oakville clients and which does not disclose a head office on the page. Several others are multi-city page farms with thin, templated content and no local specificity.

There are genuinely local firms — Avion Design Co. is Belleville-based, and Design Tactics in Kingston runs a real Belleville page. But the market is nothing like as contested as Kingston’s, and none of them is built around trades.

What does a small business website cost in Ontario in 2026?+

Published 2026 Canadian benchmarks put a basic site around $1,500, a standard build at $3,500–$5,000, and advanced custom work at $6,000–$10,000 and up, with hosting and SSL typically $20–$60 a month and maintenance $50–$150 a month on top. Another Ontario source ranges the whole market from $599 to $25,000.

Mine is $79/month with an $895 setup, $199/month with setup waived on a term, or $349/month. Buyout starts at $3,000 and falls $100 a month to a $500 floor.

Do I need a separate page for Trenton and Quinte West?+

If you serve them, yes. They are administratively the same municipality but they are not the same search. Somebody types the name of the place they live in, and a page that names it can be returned for it.

The rule I hold myself to is that a location page has to say something true and specific that the other pages don’t. If I can’t write that, I don’t build the page — a set of near-identical pages with the town name swapped is a doorway-page pattern and it doesn’t work anymore.

How important are reviews now?+

More than they were, and in a different way. Survey data from 2026 has 97% of consumers reading reviews and 41% saying they always do, up from 29% the year before. 68% now require at least four stars, up from 55%. And 74% prioritise reviews from the last three months, with 32% wanting something from the last two weeks.

The practical implication is that review velocity beats review total. Controlled analysis of over 8,000 businesses found monthly volume mattered more than lifetime count, and one business’s rankings declined visibly after only 18 days without a new review.

One caution: as of 17 April 2026, Google prohibits directing staff to solicit a specific number of reviews, or asking reviewers to include specific content such as naming a staff member. Ask for reviews. Don’t script them.

Do you make ranking promises?+

No. Google states outright that there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. What I promise is the work, a 30-day launch or your first month free, and one business per trade per area.

Other areas I work in

Each of these has its own page, because the same trade is a different business in each of them. What sells a job in Belleville is not what sells one twenty minutes down the road, and a page that tries to cover both wins neither.

Next step

Quinte is wide open. Kingston isn’t.

If you’re a trade business in Belleville, Trenton or anywhere in between, tell me what you do and I’ll tell you what I’d build and what it would cost.
